​Skills

  • Analyzed and visualized citizen science datasets to facilitate volunteer understanding of their data at workshops

  • Created ArcGIS maps of land use, geology, and watersheds for use in data interpretation workshops 

  • Organized, prepared, and facilitated stormwater steering committee meetings with community partners 

  • Developed informational fact sheets on stormwater infrastructure and policy

  • Analyzed water samples in ALLARM laboratory to verify whether or not volunteers were using their equipment correctly

  • Conducted research on topics of concern to ALLARM’s constituency and developed informative public outreach documents

  • Represented ALLARM at regional conferences 

Summary: My role as a watershed coordinator was instrumental in discovering of a passion for community-based science, as well as science communication and education.

Summary: 

  • Performed reforestation area maintenance (invasive species removal, watering, planting, and seed collection/propagation)

  • Maintained green infrastructure including a green roof and three rain gardens (invasive species removal and watering)

  • Used ArcGIS to create story map about green infrastructure in the Pennington, Hopewell, Princeton area that is published on the Watershed Institute’s Green Infrastructure webpage called ‘Discovering Green Infrastructure’

  • Developed a curriculum and lesson plans for week-long camper groups aged 5-8

  • Taught forest wildlife and plant identification, macroinvertebrate identification, and survival skills such as fire and shelter building
